West Ham Leads Race for £26m Brazilian Talent

By Malik Williams

“West Ham have begun talks to sign Corinthians winger Wesley Gassova.” This statement from the Evening Standard heralds a new and intriguing phase in the Hammers’ strategic plans. As West Ham navigate through a crucial transfer window, their early negotiation to acquire the Brazilian talent speaks volumes about their intentions. With a substantial £26 million price tag placed on Gassova by Corinthians, West Ham’s proactive approach could well tip the balance in their favour against other European heavyweights like Liverpool, Atletico Madrid, and Real Betis.

Competition Heats Up for Brazilian Prodigy

The chase for Gassova is heating up, reflecting the high stakes in modern football transfers. “The Hammers have started negotiations early in an attempt to beat rivals, including Liverpool, Atletico Madrid and Real Betis, to his signature,” notes the Evening Standard. This early bird strategy is emblematic of West Ham’s resolve to fortify their squad with young, dynamic talent. At just 19, Gassova has already impressed with his versatility, capable of operating on both flanks and primarily excelling as a right-footed left winger.

Delving into the Details of the Deal

The complexity of the transfer is underscored by Corinthians’ ownership structure for Gassova, controlling only 70% of the player’s rights, with the remaining 30% held by his representatives. Such situations are increasingly common in South American football, adding layers of negotiation that can challenge even the most seasoned European clubs.

A Bright Future Beckons at London Stadium

Wesley Gassova’s profile as a formidable winger with four goals and two assists this season, combined with 60 appearances for Corinthians since his debut at 17, paints the picture of a star on the rise. His potential arrival at London Stadium could be a significant boost for West Ham, especially as they look to alleviate the pressure on mainstays like Mohammed Kudus and Jarrod Bowen. Furthermore, with the uncertainty surrounding Lucas Paqueta amidst interest from Manchester City and an ongoing FA investigation, Gassova’s impending acquisition becomes even more critical.

Statistical Analysis by EPL Index: Wesley Gassova’s Rising Profile

Spotlight on Gassova’s Key Metrics

In the crowded market of football’s emerging talents, Wesley Gassova stands out, not just on the pitch but in the statistical round-ups that paint a broader picture of a player’s prowess. According to the latest data from Fbref, Gassova’s performances place him as a significant outlier in several key areas, particularly in progressive carries and successful take-ons, where he scores in the 99th percentile among attacking midfielders and wingers.

Strengths in Ball Progression

The visual representation of Gassova’s abilities shows a player who excels in driving forward with the ball. His progressive carries and successful take-ons stats are not just numbers but a testament to his skill at breaking lines and creating opportunities. This is a player who brings more than just pace and dribbling; he brings a purposeful advancement in play, crucial for teams like West Ham who are keen on bolstering their attacking options.

Areas for Improvement

While his carries are impressive, the chart also highlights areas where Gassova could improve. His non-penalty goals and expected goals are relatively moderate, sitting in the 48th and 8th percentiles, respectively. Additionally, his assist rate could see enhancement, aligning more closely with his evident ability to create shots, which stands in the 74th percentile.

Fbref’s comprehensive performance data and stats on Wesley Gassova offer a mixed picture—one of a young winger with the potential to dominate on the offensive but still developing in converting opportunities into goals. As he matures and adjusts to more competitive environments, these areas are likely to see significant improvement. For clubs looking to invest, Gassova presents a tantalising blend of high-ceiling talent and areas ripe for development, making him a prime target in the transfer market.

West Ham, Newcastle and Wolves make contact to sign ‘big sensation’ – 22 goals and 6 assists this season

By Naveen Ullal

West Ham United, Newcastle United and Wolverhampton Wanderers are in the picture to sign Royale Union Saint-Gilloise star Mohamed Amoura, according to L’Equipe.

The striker joined the Jupiler Pro League club from Swiss side FC Lugano last summer and has starred in his debut season, managing 22 goals and six assists.

This has caught the attention of several European clubs, and from England, West Ham, Newcastle and Wolves are named as the 23-year-old’s suitors.

Toulouse tried signing the Algeria international last summer, while Lyon made an attempt in January. Marseille have recently explored the possibility of securing his services in the next window.

L’Equipe say Marseille will find it difficult to secure his services due to competition from the Premier League and Bundesliga.

West Ham, Newcastle and Wolves are the interested parties from England, and it claimed these clubs have made contact over a potential deal for Amoura. Eintracht Frankfurt and VfL Wolfsburg are his suitors from Germany.

L’Equipe state Royale Union Saint-Gilloise paid €3m to buy Amoura and now his value has skyrocketed to €20m, after he became a ‘big sensation’ in Belgian.

Last month, claims from Belgium stated the Hammers have made a €15m offer, which is €5m short of Royale Union Saint-Gilloise’s demand.

Tammy Abraham transfer stance as Premier League clubs interested

Olly Dawes

Roma forward Tammy Abraham is open to moving back to England during the upcoming summer transfer window, HITC understands.

The England striker has just returned to full fitness after a knee injury which has sidelined him for much of the season.

Abraham returned in April and has now managed eight appearances since his comeback.

Abraham is now understood to be on the radar of a host of Premier League clubs ahead of the transfer window.

HITC can reveal that West Ham United are one of those keeping tabs on his situation and they recently saw him in action when he scored in the 2-2 draw with Napoli.

HITC also understands that Newcastle United, Bournemouth, Crystal Palace and newly promoted Leicester City are also keeping tabs on the former Chelsea man.

Roma are open to the idea of Abraham leaving, which could help them finance a move for Romelu Lukaku – who they would like to keep.

Lukaku has spent the season on loan in the Eternal City and has racked up 20 goals in all competitions.

As it stands, Roma have the option to convert Lukaku’s move to Chelsea into a permanent move – that would cost them around £30m.

The Blues would also continue to help subsidise his wages until 2026, when his original contract is due to run until.

Tammy Abraham stats at Roma

Abraham left Chelsea in the summer of 2021, completing a permanent move away from Stamford Bridge as Roma coughed up £34million.

The 26-year-old headed to the Stadio Olimpico, joining forces with Jose Mourinho in the Italian capital.

Abraham racked up 27 goals in his first season with Roma, showing his best form in front of goal.

The 2022-23 season was a little trickier as Abraham finished with nine goals in 54 outings before suffering a major knee injury on the final day of the Serie A campaign.

Now back in action, the 6ft 4in striker will be keen to make up for lost time.

Abraham also scored 30 goals across his final two seasons with Chelsea before leaving for his move to Roma.

A return to the Premier League could be on the cards with multiple clubs keen and his time in Italy could come to an end after three years.

C&H

West Ham’s £85 million release clause for Mohammed Kudus cannot be activated until 2025, meaning any potential buyers will have to wait until next summer to initiate a transfer.
